ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist in the supervision of students at assigned times, monitoring behavior and reporting problems to staff according to approved procedures. E
Enforce school procedures and ensure that student safety rules are obeyed. E
Assist students by providing proper examples, helping resolve minor conflicts and by encouraging and promoting courtesy among students. E
Ensure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and regulations. E
Alert staff or administrators in emergency situations as appropriate. E
Attend meetings and workshops as assigned.
Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: Some experience in the care of children is desirable.
Knowledge of: Methods and practices of individual and group supervision; Rules and regulations of playground activities; Health and safety regulations; Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Ability to: Ensure safety of children during activities; Supervise assigned campus areas; Communicate and maintain cooperative working relations with students, teachers, administrators and parents; Understand and follow oral and written instructions; be consistent in application of school and district policies.
Working Conditions:
PHYSICAL ABILITIES: The physical demands of this position include standing for extended periods of time. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand, walk on a campus in various weather conditions; to climb stairs at some sites; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist and, dependent on assignment the employee may occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds; hearing and speaking to exchange information and to hear in a noisy environment and locate the source of a sound and seeing to monitor student activities.

SELECTION PROCEDURES: The examination process for this recruitment may be comprised of one or any combination of the following: screening of the applicant's training, background, and experience; scored evaluation of responses on a supplemental application; written examination(s); qualifications appraisal oral examination; performance examination; or technical oral examination, scored on a job-related basis. Only the most highly qualified candidates will be invited to continue in the examination process. Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list in order of their relative merit as determined by these competitive examinations. The eligibility list for this classification will remain in effect for a period of six (6) months.
