Long Beach Community College District is seeking a highly qualified individual for the Director, Adult and Continuing Education. The incumbent performs a variety of responsible duties related to the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of adult education programs and ensures high-quality learning experiences for diverse adult learners. The Director, Adult and Continuing Education will serve as the administrator for the Long Beach Adult Education Consortium (CAEP) and oversee day-to-day operations, marketing, and community engagement for the successful implementation of CAEP funding.
The ideal candidate would be passionately student-centered, with a knowledge of the complex needs and challenges associated with a diverse population of community college students. Desired qualifications for the incumbent include knowledge of the mission of a comprehensive community college system and the community it serves, ability to prepare and control budgets, experience with program development and the ability to demonstrate strong leadership principles, student development theory and practices of student persistence and retention. AT-A-GLANCE POSITION INFORMATION
- Type of position: Full Time
- Location: Liberal Art Campus, but will support both campuses
- Salary: MGT Range 10 $113,851 - $ 155,123 Annually
- Eligibility list: Will be valid for 6 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications
- Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Director, Adult and Continuing Education will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of adult education programs and ensures high-quality learning experiences for diverse adult learners. The Director will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, manage resource perform financial grant reporting, provide professional development, and engage in strategic planning for adult education initiatives including enrollment management.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This single-incumbent, classified management position will serve as the administrator for the Long Beach Adult Education Consortium (CAEP) and oversee day-to-day operations, marketing, and community engagement for the successful implementation of CAEP funding. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration or a related field, and six (6) years of experience in project management (preferably projects of a technical nature) or workforce training programs interfacing with administration, staff and faculty, with three (3) years of grant management experience and two (2) of those years serving in a supervisory or leadership role overseeing adult education program planning; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance policy.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

For experience substitution in lieu of education, please make sure to attach a statement clearly outlining how your additional experience covers the education requirement, on a year-for-year basis, and qualifies you to be considered for this position.
• If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (~3 months) to test again for the same classification.

An Online Written Test or Oral Panel Interview may be used to assess applicant qualifications. Test parts are determined by the size and competitiveness of the candidate pool.
The qualified candidates will be placed on an unranked list. Seniority points for internal existing LBCC employees and points for Veteran's credit will not be added.
