JOB TITLE: Head Custodian III/High School
Job Purpose Statement/s: The job of “Head CustodianIII/High School” is done for the purpose/s of maintaining an attractive, sanitary and safe facility; providing adequate arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events; minimizing property damage, loss and liability exposure; ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper and timely manner, directing assigned custodians as necessary, and performing other related work as required. Typically this position is assigned to a high school. This designation reflects differences in volume/complexity of the tasks required.
Essential Job Functions:
* Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and events.
* Cleans school facilities (i.e. classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, lunchrooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
* Delivers variety of items (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing the materials to the appropriate parties.
* Advises students, other site personnel and supervisors for the purpose of providing information regarding activities, safety and/or proper maintenance of facilities.
* Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety at the worksite.
* Directs six or more personnel as assigned for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the workforce and meeting shift requirements.
* Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
Other Functions:
* Repairs furniture and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
* Participates in various activities (e.g. meetings, training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.
Essential Requirements - Qualifications Guide:
* Experience Required:
Prior job related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities, preferably in school/and/or institutional setting.
* Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skill to use cleaning agents/chemicals and equipment; communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, students, parents, and school administrators; perform basic reading and math required for safe/accurate use of cleaning agents/chemicals, perform multiple tasks of a non-technical nature.
Knowledge of methods and use of cleaning materials, equipment, and supplies. Knowledge of work practices. Knowledge of supervisory techniques.
Abilities to stand for prolonged periods, follow oral and written instructions, writing skills to keep work records and reports, use basic math to estimate time and materials, adhere to safe work practices, work independently and with minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks, adjust to flexible assignments often with short notice, make decisions and improvise as required to meet demand of heavy evening facility usage, and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping, reaching/handling, near/far visual acuity/depth perception.

Valid Driver's License, DMV (H-6) Printout, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Health Physical Examination, Tuberculosis Testing/Clearance.
