HELIX WATER DISTRICT is on the lookout for an enthusiastic, creative, and driven Public Affairs Intern to join our team. As an intern, you’ll plunge into the thrilling world of public relations, community engagement, and stakeholder communication—all within the refreshing water industry. The Public Affairs Intern is a part-time position with no benefits. The successful candidate will work in-person and report to our Administration Office in La Mesa, CA. This position is 12-16 hours per week.

Overview of Responsibilities
As our Public Affairs Intern, you will work side-by-side with our public affairs team and collaborate with other departments to maintain a continuous stream of creative and engaging content for our website, blog, social media, email, print and event communications. You will also prepare and distribute materials for our school education and conservation programs as needed.
Qualifications
Junior or senior standing from an accredited college or university with major course work in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, public administration or education.
Knowledge of Twitter and Facebook. Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to write copy and create visual content neatly and accurately. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and AP style is desirable.
Ability to plan, coordinate and organize work to meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work variable hours as required.
A valid driver's license and good driving record are required.
