Job Abstract

General Summary:

Supports the Mission of Frederick Memorial Hospital and complies with the hospital’s Code of Conduct.

The Equipment Technician, functioning under the direct supervision of a certified or registered Respiratory Therapist, performs various tasks necessary to support the department. Work occasionally requires internal contacts outside the work group to exchange relevant information. Communication with external contacts involves providing or giving factual information.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

1. High School diploma or equivalent required. Current enrollment in a respiratory therapist program preferred.
2. Position also requires accuracy in checking, posting, counting, performing technical procedures, and interpretation of instrumentation.
3. One year of previous work experience or educational training in a health care setting preferred but not required.
4. Must have the ability to use effective communication skills both written and oral in completing job assignments and/or paperwork.
5. Must be able to follow both written and oral directives and comply with any hospital and departmental policy.

Physical Demands:

Medium Work -- Lifting up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 25 pounds while walking. Pushing or pulling up to 75 pounds infrequently or up to 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour).
