Job Abstract

• Perform full accounting cycle functions as assigned including, but not limited to, timely and accurate posting, balancing, and reconciliation of the general ledger for each entity.
\r• Prepares work papers, financial statements and various reports for internal accounting and auditing.
\r• Researches and analyzes fluctuations and variances between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amounts.
\r• Assist in providing follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
\r• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Coordinate distribution of financial and other supporting reports to both internal and external
\rreporting requirements.
\r• Assists and works with independent auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.
\r• Assists in preparation of monthly management report and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports
\r• Recommend changes in accounting systems and procedures.
\r• Assists with proper expenditure coding, document preparation, and other accounting-related activities.
\r• Works with Executive Director and Department Managers in compilation of annual budget.
\r• Meets at least monthly with Executive Director and departmental staff to review expenditures vs. budget, analyze performance, identify operational/financial issues and corresponding resolution.
\r• Establish processes and procedures that allow for monthly books to be “closed” within 10 working days in coordination with accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.
\r• Coordinate and submit Bond Draw reimbursement packages on a monthly basis to various financial institutions.
\r• Reviews work completed by other staff, including but not limited to HR, payroll coordinator, accounts payable personnel and any other designated staff to ensure accurate financial information. Coordinate and resolve various issues with bank such as cleared check differences, bank fee anomalies, targeted balance calculations and enhancements to online services.
\r• Coordinates and assists in recording intercompany transactions capturing shared costs among all communities, and allocating appropriately.
\r• Provide back-up month-end support for duties assigned to other accountants as needed.
\r• Document policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility
\r• Present monthly financial information at resident town hall meetings and the monthly resident finance committee meetings. On occasion attend and present financial information at the Board Finance Committee meeting.
\r• Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA highly preferred
\r\t
• 2+ years of accounting, preferably public accounting, experience
\r\t
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel
