The Accounting Specialist is a part-time role that performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions related to various accounting procedures for both the Corporate Accounting and Winegrowing Accounting teams. The role would also provide back support in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
Essential Functions
Inventory:
Monitor inventory in transit to ensure shipping and receiving clears in a timely manner
Assist in preparation of tasting room inventory counts by ensuring orders have been received in JDE prior to count and helping staff generate count sheets
Ship confirm bulk wine sales
Fixed Assets:
Generate barrels culled and filled report
Prepare monthly barrel depreciation schedules
Sales support:
Prepare bulk sales and alternate channel P&L report
Prepare custom services billing
Back up to Accounts Receivable
Cash management
Prepare bank reconciliations
Clear checks/cash activity report
Reconcile tips and gift card liability accounts
Participate in month end closing activities and journal entries, including, but not limited to:
Allocation entries
Statistics uploads
Bottling production reports
Excise tax reconciliation
Various other projects as needed
Physical Demands/Qualifications
Ability to sit for potentially long periods of time throughout the workday.
Manual dexterity and vision sufficient to operate a computer for potentially long periods of time without experiencing abnormal hand, wrist or eyestrain.
Must have good communication skills via email, in person, on the telephone, and mobile phone.
Coordination sufficient to operate various office machines.
Non-Physical Demands/Qualifications
JD Edwards ERP software experience preferred.
Beverage industry experience, liquor industry a plus.
3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Skilled in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Strong follow-through skills.
Problem solving and organization skills, and can work independently with minimal direction.
Adequately represent the organization when in contact with customers and vendors on the telephone.
Communicate information clearly on a number of different levels both verbal and written.
Operate under deadlines and sometimes a high degree of pressure.
Demonstrate understanding of basic accounting and business principles, knowledge of spreadsheets, data processing etc.
