Examples of Duties
Definition of Responsibility Under general supervision, administers a unit of master’s level social workers who work in a multi-disciplinary team at the Child Advocacy Center. Works collaboratively with child welfare supervisors to better support the Sex Abuse Treatment Program team members.
Examples of Essential Duties
Plans and directs the Sex Abuse Treatment Program, overseeing social workers who conduct joint sexual abuse investigations on site and in the community with detectives. Trains and supervises social workers and other professional and support personnel. Provides direct clinical services to individuals and groups participating in the program.
Reviews patient/client information and authorizes eligibility for financial assistance and other tangible services. Reviews and analyzes case records. Ensure adherence to Federal, State, and local procedures regarding services performed.
Coordinates the program’s activities with other agencies and programs which provide services to families and individuals. Participates in the evaluation of unit performance and services provided. Participates in the recommendation and development of program policies and procedures. Interprets the social service program to professional personnel to affect an efficient, integrated services with other organizations and institutions.
Administer funds allocated for assistance distributed by unit. Maintains records accounting for program’s services and expenditures. Prepares reports and correspondence.
Examples of Other Duties Represents the agency or program at meetings and conferences and on boards or committees. Participates in public relations and education regarding services provided. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Possession of a master's degree in social work from a college or university approved by the Council of Social Work Education plus four years' experience rendering professional social work services.
(Education beyond a master's degree from an accredited college or university in the field of social work may be substituted on a year-for year basis, up to a maximum of two years for the required experience.)
Experience in Child Protective Services Sex Abuse, In-Home Services, and/or clinical experience in working with sexual abuse/offender treatment and supervisory experience are preferred.

Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and theories of social work and human behavior.
Knowledge of the diagnosis, treatment, and management of social, emotional, and mental dysfunctions.
Knowledge of the function and organization of community health and welfare programs and evaluation methods.

Thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Licenses or Certificates Employees must maintain LCSW-C Social Work license in good standing with the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners. Employees must maintain licenses and certifications throughout the course of their employment. BSWE supervisor certification is preferred. Possession of a valid license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C driver’s license. Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant’s major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Conditions of Employment
Employees must maintain licenses and certifications throughout the course of their employment. Some positions require completion of an approved training program and must pass a competency test by the second training available after appointment to this classification.
