Summary:
Under general supervision, provides diagnostic assessment, group therapy, individual/family therapy, and referral services for the Behavioral Health Intensive Outpatient Program, with a specific focus on those patients with a trauma history in need of intensive outpatient programming. Works as a part of the Intensive Outpatient Program team that includes the Medical Director, Department Director, Behavioral Therapists and nursing. Develops therapeutic interventions that are specific and individualized for each patient. Participates in policy and program development, program marketing, data collection, peer review, supervision and training as appropriate to personnel, students, and volunteers.
Formal Education Required:
a. Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy, or closely related field of study, and currently licensed as an LPCC, LISW, or IMFT).
b. Master’s degree in counseling or social work with current Ohio license (LPC, LSW, MFT) considered if independent licensure can be obtained within 12 months of hire.
Experience & Training Required:
a. Minimum of three years of behavioral health clinical experience.
b. Training in trauma with two years experience providing therapy to trauma patients is preferred.
c. Must have (or attain within 6 months) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification and maintain same thereafter.
d. Must have or attain BLS certification (must complete before released to work in patient care areas) and maintain same thereafter. (Summa Health provides this necessary training).
Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Must have knowledge and experience using DSM-V, cognitive-behavioral therapy skills, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills, and other appropriate trauma informed interventions.
b. Extensive knowledge and experience with diagnosis and treatment of mental health, substance use disorders and dual diagnosis treatment issues and interventions desired.
c. Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EPIC) and concurrent documentation preferred.
d. Ability to work well within a fast-paced, team environment, demonstrating effective time management on a daily basis.
e. Exhibits interpersonal and professional knowledge, skills, and abilities to work comfortably within a team and independently in developing and providing direct patient care to behavioral health patients.
f. Ability to understand and carry out the vision and core values of patient care at Summa Health by creating a patient care environment that focuses on the individualized treatment needs and experiences of those served.
g. Ability to be self-directed in executing responsibilities within a team structure.
h. Ability to take initiative to contribute beyond the scope of formal duties (i.e., suggesting innovative ideas and providing feedback on a team’s direction).
i. Shows flexibility/adaptability while serving patients with various levels of symptom severity and states of crisis.
