Our Juvenile Justice department is seeking a passionate and excited individual to provide community-based services to a diverse clientele dealing with behavioral and mental health diagnosis. The Behavioral Health Specialist works diligently to engage resistant clients and coordinates a support and resource team around the entire family. We are currently looking for 1 full time BHS in Lorain County.This position is a very important role as an advocate for children and families, often times within social service and educational settings.

Essential Functions:
Develop and maintain a service relationship with youth and family.
Develop service/treatment plan.
Provide parents with information on disciplining, behavior management, household management and communication and relationship enhancement when needed; teach youth social skills.
Provide crisis intervention and mediation as necessary.
Coordinate, make referrals, or arrange for appropriate community resources when needed, act as an advocate if necessary.
Ensure that children are in the proper educational setting.
Maintains ongoing contacts (phone, meetings, and conferences) with other professionals involved, including collateral contacts with community resources/services.
Organization and maintenance of client information and case notes.
Record keeping and copying of necessary information, dissemination to appropriate individuals within the agency and any outside agencies based on departmental requirements.
Participates in staff training, supervisory and staff meetings.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events or department specific projects or seasonal program changes.
In times of need, the Case Manager may be asked to complete related duties other than those indicated above as assigned by their supervisor.
Performance/Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in the homes of clients and several community agencies.
This involves extensive driving.
A valid Driver’s License, safe driving record, reliable vehicle and proof of insurance are required.
English reading and writing skills required
Attention to detail and confidentiality required
Works flexible hours.
Requires typing and computer competency, including Windows applications for typing case notes and other paperwork.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences or related field required with 1 year experience.
Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
Employment is contingent upon clear, precise results of a thorough background check.
