Summary:
Lincoln Electric is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Software Application Packaging Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Software Application Packaging Engineer, responsibilities include developing and maintaining software deployment packages for enterprise applications. Primary focus will be on creating standardized, efficient, and reliable software packages that can be easily deployed across Enterprise or targeted devices. Additional responsibilities include inTune/Modern Management technologies, reporting, PC imaging, Semi-annual Channel updates and Windows OS major releases.

What You Will Do
- Utilizes advanced technical knowledge to plan and lead the implementation of technical solutions.
- Provides technical leadership and support as an individual contributor and resolves problems of a comprehensive and complex nature while owning and tracking the issues through resolution.
- Package Development: Create, customize, and maintain software deployment packages for various applications, ensuring compatibility and adherence to company standards and policies.
- Compatibility Testing: Conduct thorough testing and validation of software packages to ensure compatibility with target operating systems, software dependencies, and deployment tools.
- Packaging Standards: Establish and enforce packaging standards and best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency across all software packages.
- Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation, including installation guides, release notes, and package specifications, to facilitate efficient deployment and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve packaging-related issues, including troubleshooting deployment failures and application compatibility problems.
- Automation and Tooling: Identify opportunities for automation and develop scripts or tools to streamline the packaging process, improving efficiency and reducing manual efforts.
- Release Management: Coordinate with development teams to manage software releases and ensure timely packaging and deployment of software updates and patches.
- Version Control: Implement and maintain version control systems for software packages, ensuring accurate tracking of changes and facilitating rollback if necessary.
- Security and Compliance: Adhere to security standards and compliance requirements, implementing necessary measures to protect software packages and sensitive data during deployment.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, system administrators, and IT support staff, to gather requirements, address issues, and ensure successful software deployments.
Required Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Solid experience in software application packaging and deployment, preferably in an enterprise environment.
- Proficiency in packaging tools and technologies, such as Microsoft SCCM/inTune, MSI, App-V, Flexera, Admin Studio, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux, and their respective packaging requirements.
- Familiarity with scripting languages, such as PowerShell, VBScript, or Bash, for automation and customization of packaging processes.
- Understanding of software deployment methodologies and concepts, such as silent installations, patch management, and application virtualization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot packaging-related issues in complex environments.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple packaging projects simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document processes and effectively communicate with cross-functional teams.
