The Expert Engineer, Cloud is responsible for helping design, implement, and support highly available cloud solutions leveraging AWS cloud services. Key activities focus on the design and daily support of MissionSquare’s AWS environment, including the monitoring of existing cloud infrastructure, configuration of cloud settings and features, tier 2/3 end-user support of issues that are escalated from the MissionSquare ServiceDesk, investigation of operationally escalated security incidents, cloud reporting and environmental analysis, and completion of assigned project tasks and activities for all cloud components.

Essential Functions for this role include:

• Collaboratively help build, manage, and support a complex AWS SaaS/IaaS infrastructure including, but not limited to, multiple AWS accounts and services, Mulesoft, security and monitoring capabilities, and DevOps release support.
• Manage AWS vendor relationship and billing.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, development, and security specialists to design and expand MissionSquare’s cloud infrastructure in support of our next generation of cloud-centric applications and services with a focus on automation, availability, scalability, and performance
• Improve the reliability, performance, and cost efficiency of MissionSquare cloud applications and cloud infrastructure through agile feedback and improvement methods.
• Help proactively identify innovations and process improvement opportunities by challenging conventional practices and adopting new methods to increase future state agility, flexibility, and security
• Help with the implementation and sustainment of Infrastructure as Code templates to automate infrastructure maintenance and increase the efficiency of MissionSquare’s cloud infrastructure management
• Support MissionSquare cloud services leveraging tools such as EC2, S3, EFS, VPC components, SG, NACL, ALB, IAM, CloudFormation, SNS, RDS, Lambda, CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
• Assist in the analysis of new services, capabilities and vendors as well as with proof-of-concepts/prototypes for new technologies/solutions
• Communicate effectively with infrastructure architects and engineers, developers, project managers, security engineers, and management
• Partner with delivery and engineering teams to support solution development using Agile practices, including supporting DevOps pipelines
• Monitor and report on project activities, status, task, and issues/risks

If you have the following skills, we encourage you to apply:

• BA/BS or equivalent experience
• Ten or more years of experience
• 12+ years designing, implementing, and supporting Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• 12+ years systems administration experience managing enterprise Windows and Linux environments (preferably RHEL)
• 12+ years in a 24 by7 production operations role supporting critical, highly available environments
• Strong understanding and experience with Networking components, concepts and troubleshooting techniques, including web traffic load balancing and AWS elastic load balancing, Transit gateways, VPC Gateways
• Experience with authentication and single sign-on mechanisms
• Experience patching systems and applications according to standard patch schedules, applying baselines controls
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, AWS RDS
• Experience configuring system and application monitors tools
• Experience with DevOps tools like Terraform, Docker, Git, CodeCommit, Codebuild, Codepipeline and Agile methodologies
• Knowledge and understanding of current programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Experience automating cloud infrastructure and services
• Ability to evaluate and prioritize projects from both a financial and operational perspective
• Strong understanding of corporate strategies and goals as relates to technology initiatives and the ability to align the two.
• Proven ability to interact with all levels within the organization as well as with vendors.
• Uses logic and proven methods to solve difficult problems
• Ability to prioritize among many competing projects/initiatives
• Ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders
• Excellent verbal skills, written skills with the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly, and persuasively
• AWS Certifications preferred
