Job Description
The Manager of Technology provides direct supervision of the broadcast engineering & systems engineering technical support teams. This position is responsible for the daily management of existing systems & technologies as well as the deployment of new technologies to enhance our capabilities.
The role oversees the technical support, upgrades, projects, and sustainability for broadcast critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have experience in managing critical infrastructure, preferably within the industry. This position will work closely with the nearby Philadelphia Regional Sports Network (RSN), supporting the alignment of the triopoly’s goals, objectives, and technology initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for daily management of team operations such as scheduling, performance reviews, and timecard approval.
Manage technical solutions across all broadcast systems including both SDI and ST-2110 IP video infrastructures, encode / decode platforms, live production systems, news gathering tools, editorial tools, asset management, distribution and transmission systems.
Assist in the development, implementation and accountability to standards, controls and processes that ensure a high degree of availability and reliability across all technical systems and operations.
Manage the implementation, commissioning, documentation, SOP’s, and operational handoff of new technology.
Partner with 3rd party vendors and internal service providers to best serve the needs of the station and troubleshoot issues
Facilities management at our Field Shop and Transmitter site
Mange the maintenance and back-up testing of our Over-the -Air technology, ensuring maximum uptime.
Assist in FCC Compliance responsibilities.
Responsible for the management of the Newsgathering vehicle fleet.
Other duties as deemed necessary.
Required: Position will be on call 24/7/365 and may be required onsite with little to no notice in the event of an emergent situation.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years in a technical, broadcast, or engineering role in a news station or similar environment
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar, or equivalent relevant professional experience
Industry/News experience is preferred. (Management of critical systems, broadcast infrastructure and production systems)
Experience managing Union employees is desirable.
Bi-Lingual desirable.
