Overview
We are seeking a Buyer II to join our Procurement team at Repligen's Los Angeles site. We are an innovative life sciences company focused on developing and commercializing high-value bioprocessing products, technologies, and solutions critical in the production of biologic drugs.
This role will be based in Rancho Dominguez with hybrid work arrangement and will report to the Sr. Manager of Procurement & Sourcing.
Responsibilities
Responsible for site MRP-driven procurement including regular updates to material and vendor related data. Utilizes ERP to analyze supply and demand for raw materials and sub-assemblies. Analysis includes part availability, lot size, lead-time, cost, Safety stock and other critical parameters.
Replenish Direct Material supplies in a timely manner to always serve production needs while avoiding excess of inventory. Create Purchase Orders (POs,) track and expedite shipments, push out and cancel as needed.
Maintain clear purchasing records and documents. Work with Accounting and Receiving to resolve discrepancies related to price and receipts. Investigate order problems and collaborate with other departments to identify solutions. Ensure purchasing processes adhere to SOX compliance including purchasing system management for new suppliers and materials.
Manage vendor relationships, be the liaison in communications of needs and disputes (quality failure, receiving and pricing discrepancies, etc.) Monitor Score Cards and work with vendors on any improvement plans.
Analyzes raw material information to create strategic procurement plans for certain raw materials. Manages and optimizes raw material inventory level to drive effective inventory turns and reduce excess, slow moving and obsolete raw material stock.
Participates in the planning and forecasting updates. Partner with Planning and Demand Forecast teams to establish appropriate parameters and strategies for Rancho Supply Chain.
Recognize cost savings and process improvement opportunities. Create proposals with supporting data and detailed plans for management review and approval. This involves understanding the business needs, supply chain management, analyzing options, concluding negotiations and contracting. Generates and leads site cost management efforts with suppliers, driving cost savings and other value-added activities across the supply base.
Conduct Request for: Proposal (RFP), Quote (RFQ), Information (RFI) activities. Evaluate and negotiate prices and contract terms. Manage standard costs and provide explanations for price variances (PPV) at site level.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related fields (Supply Chain, Business/Finance, Engineering)
4-6 year experience in Purchasing
Proficient user of ERP systems (SAP is preferred but not required) and Microsoft Office suite, especially with Excel.
Strong analytical skills, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Able to communicate clearly in both verbal and written.
Good time management and prioritization skills.
