Posting Summary	Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Counselor for The School of Nursing. This position will report to the Director of Undergraduate Advisement. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Provides academic advisement for undergraduate students in the School of Nursing with a focus on student retention and persistence. Provides academic advising using multiple modalities such as in-person, virtual, phone, workshops, and individual and group advising. Serves as an active member of the Advising Center team by attending meetings, participating in key semester events (registration, add/drop, withdrawals, progression review, onboarding, and graduation), and contributing to departmental and divisional goals and objectives. Collaborates with other departments within the School of Nursing and assists in the following responsibilities: advisement, onboarding, transfer credits, program audits, graduation, and other functions as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience	Bachelor’s degree required. 2 years of related experience in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education, or a related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications	Masters Degree in Higher Education, Social Science, Counseling preferred.
Equipment Utilized	Must possess the ability and desire to acquire new technical expertise as needed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (I.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) email, and web browser, along with industry-specific software is essential.
Physical Demands and Work Environment	Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds. Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, talking, and hearing.
