Functioning as a member of a team, lead and coordinate activities associated with Andover Newton’s external relationships with donors, alumni/ae, friends, churches, and partner institutions. Build relationships in, and become familiar with the history and mission of, the Andover Newton community at YDS (ANS at YDS) in order to present ANS at YDS vibrantly and accurately. Lead the school in creating and conveying a cohesive narrative about the seminary’s impact on the church and world. Manage development, communications, alumni/ae relations, and church (including key-partner denominational) partnerships. 10% travel time expected.
Essential Duties Development: Raise funds in collaboration with YDS colleagues, the ANS at YDS Advisory Council’s Development and Outreach Committee, and ANS at YDS’s Dean. In consultation with parties listed above, set fundraising goals and execute plans to meet those goals. Coordinate ongoing engagement with major donors. See current capital campaign to completion; coordinate prioritizing of beneficiary areas for development into the future. Organize, implement, and enhance strategies for Annual Fund appeals. Partner with ANS at YDS staff to plan and carry out key events that connect the school with current partners and possible future donors.
Communications: Under the leadership of the Dean, create and implement strategy for telling the seminary’s story using the Web, print materials, and social media. Edit and coordinate with YDS Communications and Marketing publication of ANS at YDS Annual Report. Partner with YDS, Yale University to maximize outreach.
Alumni/ae relations: Coordinate ongoing connections with Andover Newton alumni/ae, including those who graduated before 2019 from the seminary’s previous location. Staff the seminary’s “Alumni/ae Board,” comprised of graduate volunteers. Partner with YDS Development team on Alumni/ae Convocation.
Church/denominational Partnerships: Coordinate the ANS at YDS Fellows Program. Oversee the ANS at YDS Pulpit Supply Program. Lead, coordinate, and take part in ANS at YDS’s presence at denominational conferences, selecting conferences that place ANS at YDS advantageously on the ecclesial landscape Abilities in use of social media for strategic communications. 1. Directs, monitors, and assesses needs and directs the application of resources of an administrative University office dealing with one or more major functional areas. 2. Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility. 3. Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives. 4. Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility. 5. Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances. 6. Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies. 7. Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 8. May perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s Degree in related field and five years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
