Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Admissions, the Assistant Director of Admissions manages and independently creates, develops, and implements innovative admissions strategies and improves efficiencies for admissions operations. Identifies and executes strategic projects related to recruitment, marketing, and communications, collaborating with colleagues across the school. Participates in all admissions committee deliberations leading to decisions and runs all reports needed for admissions committee meetings. Independently manages marketing and communications projects and acts as the main liaison to Communications and coordinates website updates. Manages prospective and admitted student programming.
Main tasks include independently and solely manages all systems and operational procedures around recruitment, applications, enrollment, and student records, utilizing Slate as the primary platform. Identifies, manages, and executes strategic marketing projects designed to expand the Jackson School's brand awareness globally. Examples include email communications, sponsorships, materials redesign, and website updates, as determined by team and department goals. Acts as lead point of contact for outlets and publications.
Manages Jackson admissions data collection, integrity, and analysis. Presents statistical analysis to admissions dean to use in internal and external reporting. Member of the Yale Jackson Admissions Committee. Analyzes and independently assesses select records as identified by Assistant Dean to determine if applicants are appropriate for additional review by M.P.P. admissions committee. Participates in high-volume admissions office activities, including, but not limited to, processing and tracking applications. Provides required documentation for admissions committee. Records all decisions and oversees execution and follow-up actions from committee.
Executes all aspects of prospective Visit Day and Admitted Student Programming, including developing schedule, coordinating with Registrar and faculty, and securing venues and caterers. Hires and manages student admissions coordinators and oversees responses to email and voicemail queries. Under direction of Assistant Dean, conducts all post-admission follow up and coordinates enrollment services across Jackson, including liaising with Student Affairs, Registrar, Career Services and Financial Aid.
Attends monthly University Admissions Steering Committee meetings and reports to assistant dean on updates, action steps, and best practices. Meets with walk in prospective students. Works collaboratively with colleagues within the school and across Yale, as well as other key constituents, to seek synergies regarding joint degrees, raise profile of Yale Jackson M.P.P. program, develop networks, and implement strategies related to relevant geographical regions and professional industries. Represents the Jackson School at informational fairs and other events if Assistant Dean is unable to attend and otherwise participates in recruiting for Jackson graduate program as needed. High-level analytical skills, including the ability to work with advanced MS Office, complex databases, and spreadsheets. 1. Plans, coordinates and implements programs for a particular school or college in one or more of the following areas: financial aid, career services, and/or admissions. 2. Recommends short- and long-term administrative and department goals. 3. Determines student eligibility in one or more of the following areas: federal loan programs, school grants, job placement opportunities, and/or admissions. 4. Provides guidance, advice and counseling in one or more of the following areas: academic, admissions, career, and financial matters for students, faculty and prospective students. 5. Initiates, designs and implements operational systems to maintain and monitors student records and/or applicant records. 6. Reviews and approves all written material for publication or press release. 7. Organizes workshops and on and off campus recruitment events in one or more of the following areas: career services, admissions, and/or financial aid. 8. Supervises day to day operation of services; determines priorities and maintain workflow. 9. May perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and four years of experience in a related area or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.
