Calculated Hourly Range for role Intake Specialist:
State - California: $21.00 - $27.60 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Liaise with client/family of potential admissions to address any questions, concerns, etc.
• Coordinate facility tours with clients and families who are potential admissions.
• Interface with remote admissions team and on-site clinical team for necessary approvals, plan for client
arrival, including travel arrangements as applicable.
• Establishes professional rapport with client to ensure that they feel welcomed upon arrival.
• Supports arrival process including coordinating assessment/bed placement process, searches of client
belongings/person for prohibited items.
• Orients client to the facility/milieu.
• Liaises with direct care/nursing/clinical team to ensure client is set-up with a treatment plan/schedule
as needed.
• Ensures intake paperwork is completed in a timely fashion and documentation is maintained as
required.
• May discuss client’s financial responsibility and take payment as applicable.
• Provides exceptional customer service in line with Acadia Healthcare standards.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:

STANDARD EXPECTATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
• High-school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 1 – 2 years of experience in a patient care environment in a substance use/behavioral health setting, is
preferred.
• Must have excellent communication and customer service skills, and an ability to use required
computer programs.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
• De-escalation training, CPR and/or First-Aid certification as required by facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Oversee the daily referral, intake, admissions and preauthorization process for incoming patients.
• Organize, plan and direct work assignments for Admissions staff.
• Provide staff management to including hiring, development, training, performance management and
communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
• Supervise and monitor personnel adherence to established Admissions criteria and ensures that
appropriate documentation of approval/denial occurs.
• Adhere to established Patient Rights and ensures the Admissions staff comply.
• Act as an intermediary on difficult cases, keep leadership team informed of the status of problematic
situations.
• Ensure compliance with front-end financial processes to include benefit verification, financial
counseling, and completion or prior authorization of each patient per Acadia policy and facility process.
• Maintain knowledge or milieu management.
• Ensure that FTE utilization in Admissions falls within fiscal guidelines, but also ensures patient safety
and admission efficiencies.
• Provide staff management to include hiring, development, training, performance management and
communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When
patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety
is a top priority.
