JOB SUMMARY
The People (Human Resources) Specialist supports daily People operations, including HRIS management, payroll processing, benefits administration, employee engagement initiatives, training programs, employee relations, and compliance matters. Based in our Houston, TX office, this role requires fundamental HR knowledge, analytical skills, strong decision-making abilities, and optimal service delivery mindset. The ideal candidate will excel in service delivery and possess the communication skills to effectively interact with employees across all levels of the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer the onboarding process from offer acceptance through the employee's first 180 days. Duties will also include maintaining I-9 process.
- Deliver comprehensive new hire orientation and other People related education and trainings.
- Ensure timely communication with employees, candidates, contractors, and hiring managers.
- Administer offboarding program delivering exceptional experience for exiting employees.
- Assist with benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations and resolving issues with providers and ensuring optimal service delivery.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the human capital management system: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, administer employee data changes, ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and practice, manage inquiries, provide support, troubleshoot issues, generate reports to provide insights into the people metrics, trends, etc.
- Delivering exceptional service, respond to inquiries from employees related to benefits, timesheets, employment policies, payroll, and other People programs and initiatives.
- Support audits, including compliance with background checks, I-9s, training, and other employment documents.
- Provide administrative support to the People team in various areas including compliance, employee relations, recruiting, and training programs.
- Assist with People-related events, programs, and initiatives.
- Assist with the smooth and effective operations of the People function through other duties, assignments, and special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in a Human Resources related field of study or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 3 years experience working in Human Resources preferably in a generalist capacity.
- High proficiency in Paylocity HCM.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other products in the suite.
- Embody the Human Resources profile: able maintain confidentiality, be service oriented, highly organized, able to effectively multi-task while managing high volume and demand and competing priorities, able to work effectively individually as well as on a team, a self-starter who takes initiative and able to work with minimal supervision.
- SHRM CP preferred or on track to become certified within 15 months of hire.
- Experience in healthcare environment preferred.
- Ability to travel locally in Houston 50%; regionally 20%
