The Budget Planning Analyst reports to the Assistant VP for Budget & Financial Planning and will serve as the Budget Manager for University Affairs, Advancement & External Affairs, and the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion divisions. The position will also serve as the budget liaison to the Student Affairs division. This position will assist with monitoring, maintenance and general analysis of personnel and operating budgets as needed. Given the shared nature of the position, the incumbent will need to exercise the utmost discretion in working with each division under their purview.
Responsibilities include:
Serves as the Budget Manager to University Affairs and the President’s Office, Advancement & External Affairs, and the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion divisions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Serves as point of contact for divisional areas under their responsibility in order toassist with any budget related questions or requests for information. Will need to regularly meet with the Vice Presidents to review budget needs and balances.
Responsible for working with Vice Presidents to identify their critical needs and/or reallocation needs on an annual basis.
Responsible for preparing Request to Hire and/or Temporary Working Out-of-Class forms as needed (includes but is not limited to cost analysis to support the requests).
Reviews budget vs. actuals to avoid deficits, identify errors, and assess potential savings.
Creates and reviews operating budget entries that are submitted through the Budget Office website before processing the entries.
Prepares personnel funding entries (for all commitment items) as needed.
Reviews budget entries after they are posted (standard best practice).
Performs maintenance for Personnel Budget Management (PBM) broadcast reports, as needed.
Tracks permanent reductions to non-personnel.
Reviews “not assigned” personnel expenses in the Personnel Budget Management (PBM) tool and takes steps to assign the expenses.
Provides Personnel Budget Management (PBM) report training for their assigned areas of responsibility.
B) Serves as the Budget Office liaison to the Student Affairs division, which includes but is not limited to:
Reviews budget vs. actuals to avoid deficits, identify errors, and assess potential savings.
Creates and reviews operating budget entries that are submitted through the Budget Office website before processing the entries.
Prepares personnel funding entries (for all commitment items) as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
3+ years of professional experience in a related field.
Must be a critical thinker and possessstrong analytical and technical skills as routine job tasks include intricate analysis and decision making.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills(both written and oral).
Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks with competing priorities, and/or work deadlines in a professional and efficient manner.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
A strong commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field.
Prior experience in a higher education environment.
Experience using SAP information system and Banner.
Experience with business intelligence tools and/or skills (in an ERP environment).
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
Special Instructions
Salary range is between $72,189 and $81,603commensurate with qualifications and experience.
