Learn and maintain a good understanding of the operation of the High-Pressure Condensate Return (HPCR) system. Capable of operating a Bird 24 x 38 centrifuge. This includes setting up feed levels and cleaning. Learn, maintain, and operate the Pressor operation. How the press operates and adjusting the feed rate to prevent wet or greasy material. Capable of operating all the equipment in the Crax side of the Grinding Room. Capable of digging out a jam &/or bridge of material within the raw or finished product conveyance systems. Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues that happen within the above-mentioned systems. Performs Critical Control Point Monitoring and completes all required documentation. Prepares daily samples of products for further outside laboratory testing. In-house testing of Feather Meal and Chicken Fat. Give direction to Drivers & Raw Receiving operators on raw material dumping schedule. A solid communication exchange &/or report must happen at each shift change. Reports equipment failures, foreign matter in raw materials, spills and any other problems or concerns promptly to Shift Supervisor and/or the Plant Manager. Takes a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns. Responsible to maintain a clean environment. All spillages will be cleaned up immediately. The area will be clean prior to shift change. Dry cleans (sweeps) the Grinding Room and hot hi-pressure wash cleans the main processing area and equipment daily and as needed. Performs Packed Tower and Air Scrubber checks. Needs to possess knowledge of how both systems operate. Performs Boiler checks Daily. Needs to possess knowledge on how to start/stop and troubleshoot minor issues. Required to learn Feather Processing. Be able to cover Feather Processing during lunch breaks and absenteeism. 12-hour shifts and shift schedule changes will be required to bridge a shift when missing an employee due to PTO time and absenteeism. Other duties as assigned by shift Supervisor, Plant Manager or V. P. of Rendering Operations Competencies: Ability to self-supervise and/or work independently, completing assigned tasks daily. Ability to direct team members and provide a shift plan. Qualifications and Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills and English proficiency to read, interpret, and document process procedures and daily inspections. Valid state issued driver's license. Ability to perform basic math. Must complete mandatory training (Fire Safety, First Aid/ CPR/ AED, Forklift (every 3 years), LOTO/ PPE/ Dust/ Hazard Comm./ Confined Space, Hearing, Food Safety, and other training as assigned. Ability to operate a skid loader. Ability to operate a Front-end Loader / Backhoe. Ability to use Hi-Pressure Washer. Ability to pass Forklift Certification. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands: Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work at heights and climb ladders up to 22 feet. Work Environment Ability to work within wet, humid, hot and cold conditions and an environment with strong unpleasant odors.
