This position will lead a cross-functional team (internal & external) across the entire life cycle of all design and construction initiatives for small to large capital projects.
This role will lead a team of engineers focused on delivering safe, reliable, compliant, sustainable and efficient workplace infrastructure that enables Pfizer’s mission globally. This team will support capital and non-capital projects by applying subject matter expertise to the planning, design, construction, commissioning and operational turnover of critical infrastructure.
This position reports to the Project Management Lead, Global Workplace Experience.
How You Will Achieve It
Project Engineering: Manage a technical multi-disciplinary team of engineers and subject matter experts that acts as liaisons between the project/program managers and the project team members conducting feasibility, conceptual, schematic and detailed design and engineering.
Technical Expertise: Provide technical engineering direction to solve complex project challenges with feasible, safe, sustainable and compliant solutions. Support the project lifecycle from conception to closeout with varied deliverables based on the project phase/stage demands. Review and provide technical commentary to all design & engineering drawings, specifications, P&ID’s, single line diagrams, procurement packages, submittals, ETOPs and as-built drawings for projects.
Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of engineers providing guidance, support and mentorship to enable them to reach their full potential. Embody Pfizer’s values and connect the Pfizer mission to the engineer work managed to create a team culture of purpose and empowerment.
Decision Making: Provide clear and concise design and engineering decisions to meet project budget, timeline and quality targets. Engage and obtain endorsement for all pertinent stakeholders to make decisions.
Safety: Ensure all project designs meet Global EH&S and local EH&S policy and requirements. Provide technical expertise to conduct risk and hazard analyses (HAZOP, Basis of Safety, Method of Procedures, etc). Support any technical EH&S audits and support Business Vertical operations as needed.
Sustainability: Provide technical design direction in harmony with Pfizer’s Caron Net Zero commitment and ESG strategy. Implement Pfizer’s Sustainable Design & Engineering practices. Provide technical support and direction to achieve sustainability driven certifications on projects (i.e. LEED, WELL, etc.)
Budget & Resource Staffing: Manage an annual operating expense budget equipped to provide sufficient engineering staffing. Adjust staffing resources based on project demand and technical expertise needs.
Scope & Cost Estimation: Scope projects during early planning and conceptual project phases. Provide engineering support and assumptions to support cost estimating and forecasting being conducted by the PMO.
Procurement: Support any Requests for Information/Proposal events, by conducting bid analysis, input to scorecard and analyses and providing recommendations for award based on the proposals and information reviewed.
Relationship Management: Collect and understand the User Requirements Specifications and apply standards, best practices and engineer solutions to meet the needs of the users. Provide guidance on engineering specifications by reviewing engineering documents and providing comments. Partner with EH&S, Global Security, Global Technology & Engineering, Digital, Global Risk Management and other stakeholders as driven by the user requirements.
Documentation Control: Provide engineering documentation control for all projects, specifically those with regulatory requirements (GxP). Create and maintain change control procedures and SOP’s for handling any regulated engineering documentation.
Continuous Improvement: Create and conduct continuous improvement practices into the engineering guidance and standards. Provide technical engineering bulletins to the GWE portfolio based on experience and guidance to enhance safety, efficiency or reliability in the real estate portfolio. Support engineering audits and solution any action items resulting from audit findings.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Proven experience as an engineering manager with a minimum of 10 years in project engineering and project management.
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and lead cross-functional teams.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex information and make sound decisions.
Strong financial acumen, with the ability to develop and manage program budgets.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
Ability to mentor, coach and effectively transfer expertise to others
Ability to work with Project Managers to develop a project execution plan

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $131,200.00 to $218,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
