You'll be responsible for:
Performing preventative maintenance inspections and service for a diverse fleet.
Repairing vehicles and equipment with compressed natural gas, diesel, electric and unleaded fueling systems.
Repairing and/or replacing hydraulic pumps and lines; rewiring and reconditioning electrical systems.
Repairing small gasoline engines, pumps and miscellaneous equipment and tools.
Using machine shop equipment; welding and machining techniques to construct, repair, and modify parts and equipment. Performing basic in-cab and body repair work.
Responding to emergency calls, performing repairs at the work site or transporting vehicles or equipment to the shop for repairs.
Keeping records of time, materials, parts used, and work performed. Determining supplies, materials, parts and equipment necessary to complete repairs.
Participating on the maintenance and cleaning of the fleet shop facilities, tools and repairing of equipment; cleaning spilled oils and fuels.
This position may be required to work at multiple City locations.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED
Education and/or Experience: Graduation from high school, including or supplemented by training in repair of motorized equipment; and two years of journey-level experience in the maintenance and repair of light to heavy electric, compressed natural gas, gasoline and diesel-powered equipment or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of techniques and methods of overhauling and repairing electric, compressed natural gas, gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles/equipment and related components, including engines, transmissions, suspensions, starting systems, fuel systems, air conditioning systems and electrical systems; theory, care and operation of compressed natural gas, diesel, electric, hybrid and gasoline-powered internal combustion engines and mechanical components for the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment; methods, materials, tools and equipment of the trade and their use in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment; preventive maintenance inspection methods. Ability to use manuals; use automated recordkeeping systems; use computerized diagnostic equipment and diagnostic techniques to locate mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work; repair and overhaul gasoline and diesel-powered equipment and related components with a minimum of supervision; understand and follow oral and written directions; prepare and maintain simple records; work safely; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Possession of or ability to obtain a California Commercial Motor Vehicle "Class A" Driver's License with air brake endorsements and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of satisfactory completion of the probationary period.
