Under general direction, the Water Production System Operator operates, maintains and repairs control systems, wells and pumping plants; including Liquid Phase Granulated Activated Carbon (LPGAC) systems; ION exchange treatment systems and air strippers treatment plants, and performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by specialized training in water treatment methods and practices. One-year experience in the operation and maintenance of water production systems and/or treatment plants.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid, Class C California motor vehicle operator's license and a satisfactory driving record are required at the time of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment. Possession of a valid California Class B license is preferred.
A California State Department of Health, Water Treatment Operator Grade 2 Certificate is required at time of appointment. T3 Certificate highly desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Requires some physical effort including bending, stooping, climbing and lifting items weighing 20-100 lbs. Tasks are occasionally performed in inclement weather.
