The National Aquarium is looking for part time Guest Engagement Interpretive Aides to support the Guest Engagement Programs. The position is responsible for formal and information interpretation, working at the Living Seashore touch pools, engaging guests at the discovery carts, formal presentations in Dolphin Discovery, and presenting with live animals.
Responsibilities for this position include enthusiastically engaging guests in a variety of interactive programming and public presentations for the Aquarium guests. A majority of the time is spent at the Living Seashore touch pools, children’s discovery area, waterfront park, and roaming the exhibits. The position may assist Guest Engagement Manager and Interpretive Specialists with special projects as assigned.
Required to apply for this position, the candidate must have college course work in science or education or equivalent experience is preferred along with informal teaching experience. Strong public speaking and presentation skills are desired and an energetic personality is required. Requires flexible hours including weekends (Saturdays & Sundays), holidays and peak season weekdays. Must be able to work a minimum of one weekend day a week. May also include some early morning or evening hours.
