Cennox is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Inspector in New York City with a S98 Certification. As a Fire Alarm Inspector, the primary responsibility is to inspect, test, and maintain electronic fire detection systems to ensure they function correctly and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Duties:
Conduct regular inspections of electronic fire detection and suppression systems in commercial and industrial buildings within New York City boroughs and/or other assigned areas.
Testing of alarms, sensors, control panels, and other components to verify their functionality and accuracy.
Identifying and troubleshooting any issues or malfunctions with electronic fire systems and recommending necessary repairs or upgrades.
Documenting inspection findings, test results, deficiencies, and any corrective actions taken in detailed reports in a digital form.
Collaborate with building owners, managers, and fire department officials to address compliance issues and ensure adherence to fire safety standards.
Provide recommendations for improving fire protection systems and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
Keep current on advancements in electronic fire detection and suppression technology, codes, and regulations to ensure continued compliance and effectiveness of systems as per NFPA72.
Qualifications:
S98 certification is required by FDNY. This must be current or obtained within hiring period.
Certification as a Fire Alarm Technician (CFAT), NICET I, NICET II are highly desirable.
Knowledge of relevant fire codes and regulations such as NFPA, IBC, and IFC as well as all FDNY standards.
Strong technical skills in troubleshooting and repairing electronic fire and security systems is preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of commercial Fire Alarm experience is a must.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, team members, and regulatory authorities.
Ability to work with computers and smartphones/tablets is necessary for this position.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to maneuver NYC public transit is key.
Physical ability to climb ladders, lift equipment, and work in confined spaces as needed.
