POSITION OVERVIEW

The Explorer apprenticeship is a yearlong program that provides Baltimore City High School students between the ages of 16 and 18 the opportunity to receive Fire Service training and certifications.  The Fire Explorer will participate in community events, trainings for basic fire and lifesaving skills, and can ride along on fire emergency vehicles. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 16-18 Years of Age
• Be a Baltimore City Resident
• No prior criminal history
• Maintain a 2.0 grade point average in school (Must be actively enrolled)
• All members must maintain a clean-shaven appearance and good hygiene.
• Parent/Guardian Permission Required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

• Strong work ethic and proactive critical thinking skills
• Physical fitness to include strength and cardiovascular.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend directions and training materials in English.
• Ability to work as a team member.
