WHAT WE'RE DOING
The Naval Systems Computing Center (NSCC) at the Rotary Mission Systems Moorestown, NJ facility, is part of a test suite that is tied to the AEGIS Weapons System and provides critical capability for early program development and element testing prior to system level integration.
WHO WE ARE
The role involves working as a Senior Tactical Hardware Engineer who is part of a team that supports the Naval Systems Computing Center Computer Program Test Site (NSCC/CPTS). This team is tasked with performing critical tests on the various components of the Aegis Ballistic Defense system to ensure operational readiness.
THE WORK
In this role, you will be responsible for providing maintenance support on tactical equipment and systems, both Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and Contractor Furnished Equipment (CFE). Your primary focus will be ensuring the operational readiness of various baseline configurations and supporting special project evolutions.
Responsibilities:
• Perform equipment (hardware) installation, de-installation, and modifications.
• Install GFE/CFE field changes (ECNs, etc.) in tactical equipment.
• Provide multilevel technical support for the integration of tactical equipment configurations, collaborating with software support groups, test operations personnel, and engineering design support groups.
• Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair tactical equipment including legacy systems (Q-70, UYK-43s, UYQ-21) and newer COTS-based AEGIS Computing plants (Baseline 7 and later).
• Assist engineering staff in maintaining detailed configuration documentation related to equipment, cable configurations, firmware settings, equipment utilization metrics, and status updates.
• Utilize the facility hotline process to track and assign technical support for prompt investigation and resolution of tactical hardware problems and failures.
• Record and track issues, equipment failure trends, and other metrics affecting operational efficiency.
• Generate daily reports using Microsoft tools for various functional groups.
• Mentor junior members of the NSCC Tactical Support Group.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts as required, including days, evenings, midnights, holidays, and weekends.
WHO YOU ARE
We are seeking individuals with:
• Proven experience in maintaining and troubleshooting tactical equipment and systems.
• Strong technical skills with a focus on hardware installation, maintenance, and repair.
• Experience with legacy tactical systems (Q-70, UYK-43s, UYQ-21) and newer COTS-based systems (AEGIS Computing plants Baseline 7 and later) preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and rotational shifts as required.

Learn more about Lockheed Martin's Comprehensive benefits package here! • 5 to 10+ years of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Aegis tactical systems in a Shipboard or Laboratory configuration or in an engineering development environment
• US Navy AEGIS Fire Control or Electronics Technician background preferred
• Knowledge of Aegis system equipment elements and operational equipment. Documented experience with, and/or training in, UNIX/LINUX based operating systems as required for system maintenance and troubleshooting
• Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing tactical military hardware • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience
• Successful candidate must be experienced with troubleshooting/repair practices and principles coupled with documented experience using standard test equipment (e.g., multi-meters, o-scopes, network analyzers and fiber optic testers) found in a large scale systems operational/engineering environment
• Must possess a working knowledge of LAN technology coupled with the ability to understand UNIX based program commands and LAN network theory to assist in the analysis, isolation and repair of hardware failures
• Working knowledge of UNIX, and Linux operating systems
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the SECRET level
