Stepstone Academy School is looking to hire an Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 school year! The Assistant Principal is responsible for assisting the school principal in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of the school program and operation. The Assistant Principal at Stepstone Academy will be open to their peers and eager to collaborate as a team to meet the mission and vision and the needs of the students at Stepstone Academy.
Essential Functions:
Student Character and Leadership Development
Creatively collaborates through parent-teacher relations to ensure outcomes are aligned with the school’s mission and culture and student success
Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems and/or resolving conflicts.
Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration by sharing ideas and responsibilities with colleagues; providing and accepting support and encouragements from colleagues; eager and open to receiving and offering nonjudgmental feedback to benefit the whole.

Build and Maintain Excellent Student Culture
Supports Administration in defining the vision, expectations, routines, and procedures of student culture for early childhood education and the metrics to monitor progress periodically throughout the year.
Works with student leaders and staff to ensure consistent implementation of the vision, expectation, routines, and procedures of student culture
Assists with the enforcement of student behavior infractions as necessary.
Leads the school in creating and maintaining a system for implementing effective restorative conversations and practices
Assists Administration to plan and execute student opportunities, including but not limited to: field trips, student conferences, student leadership opportunities, and family engagement opportunities
In collaboration with the school learning support team, progress monitor students’ progress towards Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior and social emotional interventions and work with school leadership and teachers to adjust course when necessary
Creates goals and progress monitor teacher effectiveness with upholding consistent culture and systems
Assists Leadership Team with staff and student recruitment

Implements policies, procedures and or processes for the purpose of providing directions and/ or complying with mandated requirements
Manages a variety of school administrative functions (e.g. student disciplinary policy, school schedule, assigned personnel, etc.) for the purpose of enforcing school, district, and state policy and maintain safety and the efficiency of school operations
Professional Growth and Responsibilities
Assists the principal in the following including but not limited to: the transformation of the school culture into a results-oriented collaborative learning community; planning and implementing a professional development/growth program for teachers and staff; monitoring compliance with federal, state, and local mandates and guidelines related to local and state testing programs and the local special education programs.
Supervises school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of school’s curriculum
Responds appropriately, maintains composure and possesses a professional demeanor to any situation at all times.
Encourages students to grow as human beings and to develop academically
Collaborates in the planning and implementation of a systematic method of supervising and evaluating the instructional program through the use of learning walks, observations, documents, and follow up conferences
Participates in Student Support Team meetings to ensure the academic and social needs of the students are being met
Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as required by Stepstone.
May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events, specific projects, or program changes.
Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and present the agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic database usage, as well as moderate level typing and the ability to operate computerized office equipment.
Strong critical thinking and communication skills to problem solve and interact verbally with staff, representatives from outside agencies and families.

Performance/Physical Requirements:
Work consist of walking, bending, stooping, ascending/descending stairs, lifting up to 30 lbs. and remaining in a stationary position 50% of the time, including positioning self to an equal level in order to assist children of all ages.
Available by phone and work flexible hours, in and outside of school setting including but not limited to: planning, tutoring, extra-curricular activities, home visits and events.
Must be able to clearly and confidentially communicate with other employees, students, and other stakeholders.
Must be able to verbally exchange information in a confidential manner with students and/or families in various settings regarding performance of students.
Work environment is based in the community and can include an office, school-based setting, child care facilities or participant’s homes.
Must be able to drive frequently due to work varying work environments including agency office, school based, community based locations which may include participant homes in various communities and may include transportation of students.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree in Education, or Educational Leadership required
Ohio Educator Licensure and a minimum of 4 years’ of teaching experience and a strong record of helping underserved students achieve academic success
Proven experience to proactively lead by example, effectively manage adults and respond proactively to feedback.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a school administrative setting preferred
Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis clearance and drug screening.
Employment is contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
