ABOUT THE ROLE:
Capital One is looking for a strategic, results-driven communications professional to join a growing group of Tech PR experts on our Corporate Communications team.
Working for one of the world’s most recognized brands provides opportunities to learn and grow while creating industry-leading communications campaigns. Our work demands experience in media relations; product launch strategy; content creation; reputation building and protecting; influencer management; analytics and insights; and more.
This role will support Tech PR efforts for Capital One. This person will partner with business leaders; marketing and brand partners; and agencies to build and lead strategic and integrated communications programs across various channels. The goal is to highlight our tech journey and work, including our human-centered, tech-forward consumer and business products, amongst target audiences to bolster the perception of Capital One as an innovative company.
This position requires exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills; solid understanding of and experience working with earned and paid media; experience with influencer identification and management; experience leading projects and teams to meet business objectives; and the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders while operating in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. This position also requires a self-starter with the ability to lean into white space and adapt to change quickly.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Deliver and execute integrated communications strategies, including paid, earned, shared, and owned media
Determine when to incorporate earned and paid media, influencer relations, speaking engagement, and experiential and content components into campaigns
Draft effective communications materials, including strategic plans, announcements, leader talking points and remarks, and other communications for various audiences
Identify earned media opportunities that support business objectives and coordinate outreach, leveraging contacts and building relationships to ensure media coverage across a range of verticals
Build relationships with influencers and manage content that can be adapted and shared across a variety of internal and external channels
Work with partners (e.g., Marketing, Product, Tech) to plan and execute integrated campaigns that promote Capital One’s tech journey and tech-forward products
Partner closely with PR agency and vendors to execute strategies
Provide strategic counsel by sharing industry insights and relevant trends to inform strategies
Work closely and engage with key stakeholders to build trusted relationships
Maintain expert knowledge of tech at Capital One, including: trends, competitors, and related campaigns and activations
Identify themes, topics and content that resonate with target audiences and meet business objectives
Assess risks and potential communications problems and provide proactive solutions
Support research, measurement and analytical work to drive communications strategies
Contribute to Capital One enterprise communications
Partner with Corporate Communications team members to ensure a well-managed communications approach
Connect the dots between Line of Business priorities and the broader enterprise to drive efficiencies and create value for our business partners
Identify ways to enhance Capital One’s reputation, ensuring all efforts reflect and bolster the enterprise
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least 4 years of experience managing media relations
At least 3 years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
At least 2 years of experience working in tech communications
At least 2 years of experience presenting work to clients and/or executives
At least 1 year of experience measuring the impact and value of campaigns

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $103,900 - $118,600 for Principal Communications Assoc
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
