Director, Enterprise Applications
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced IT Director to join our business technology team. This role is crucial for leading and mentoring a team focused on maintaining critical enterprise applications. As a hands-on leader, the IT Director will strategize, deliver, and provide ongoing support for stable, secure, and scalable business applications. This position requires collaboration with Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Finished Goods Manufacturing, and Distribution to drive innovation and improve business operations through technology and data.
The IT Director will oversee the team managing ERP, Distribution, Warehouse Management, and other related systems, including enterprise application integration and workflow automation shared service teams. The ideal candidate excels at delivering complex enterprise solutions, thrives in a fast-paced environment, drives continuous business process improvement, and serves as a key point of communication and collaboration with teams, customers, and vendors.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and evolve next generation IT capability roadmap to align with Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Distribution goals and objectives.
- Lead initiative to justify an upgrade or replacement of the current ERP system (JDE).
- Be a business process and IT architecture knowledge expert supporting existing applications, systems and tools.
- Serve as a technical lead to full stack development teams and the IT application integration shared service team.
- Deliver excellent verbal and written communication tailoring styles for diverse audiences with ability to communicate complex technical information to a range of audiences.
- Manage and develop a team of talented internal resources through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and goal setting.
- Provide escalated support for after-hours emergencies.
Leadership:
- Build partnerships and collaborate cross functionally with business executives, functional managers, and end users to identify, influence, and shape solutions to support their needs.
- Generate strong connections and partnerships in order to gain buy-in to new initiatives, manage expectations, and resolve conflicts.
- Influence direction for business technology decisions and adoption.
- Partner with C-level executives to establish vision, and to create a culture that views technology as an important investment and cross-corporate asset.
- Foster excellent vendor partnerships by continuously communicating goals, setting expectations, and holding them accountable for business and technical delivery.
- Get things done through peers and others (non-subordinates) enabling cross functional teams to achieve high quality results.
- Participate in IT project prioritization process with IT Leadership team to establish clear cross functional department priorities and outcomes.
Innovation:
- Drive innovation cross-functionally with customers, peers, and vendors to improve company efficiency and effectiveness.
- Drive the adoption of business functionality through evangelizing informally in combination with formal training and traditional change management methods.
- Maintain technical breadth and depth across various information technology domains and how these apply to the business areas supported.
- Follow modern technology market trends and how these apply to our organization and goals.
- Establish and promote technical standards, best practices, and procedures to ensure the optimal performance, stability and security of the systems owned.
Business Impact:
- Deliver and support new capability to the business areas supported.
- Scope, plan, and deliver quality results for multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Lead customers through significant process and/or organizational change.
- Manage and prioritize a portfolio of projects of varying size and scope.
- Negotiate favorable commercial contracts and technical terms with vendor partners.
- Plan and manage Capex and Opex budgets including forecasting and variance reporting.
- Provide insight and transparency to the initiatives that directly support the strategic plan.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business/computer science/engineering or related field, plus 10 years relevant work experience; or 14 years equivalent experience. Master's degree a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
Preferred Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization and large audience speaker.
- Excellent facilitation skills and extensive experience working in a team environment.
- Experience directing, motivating, and managing direct staff including recruiting, hiring, performance management, goal setting, career guidance and mentoring.
- Experience with SDLC, ITSM, Waterfall, Agile and Scum process frameworks.
- Experience with Lean and or Six Sigma methodologies a plus.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment and within wine industry a plus.
- Strong business acumen across a variety of disciplines.
- Excellent planning, organizational and analytical skills.
- Experience implementing and supporting off the shelf and custom-built solutions.
- Demonstrated experience managing ERP systems and associated integrated platforms. ERP implementation experience and JDE (JDE Edwards) experience a plus.
- Demonstrated experience implementing large business software applications (full cycle implementations from strategy, definition, build, go-live to ongoing support).
- Expert level knowledge of ERP, Order Management, and Warehouse management system experience is preferred.
Wage transparency:
The base salary for this role ranges from $140,000 to $230,000 annually. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
