The Staff Occupational Therapist (Occupational Therapist 2 EX) works with pediatric patients across the age continuum – infants, children, adolescents – and from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds providing both direct and indirect patient care services. Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Staff Occupational Therapist plans and administers a full range of occupational therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and functional limitations. Services include patient evaluations using various physical, cognitive, and visual/perceptual tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing occupational therapy techniques.
The Staff Occupational Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the Staff Occupational Therapist may also supervise support personnel including Rehabilitation Aides as well as Occupational Therapy students. The Staff Occupational Therapist actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including quality and performance improvement activities, clinical education programs, and inservices and staff development activities.

Minimum one year of licensed experience as an Occupational Therapist working with pediatric populations
Prior occupational therapy experience in an academic medical center environment
Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team
Experience with infant and child feeding and developmental occupational therapy interventions
MS or MA degree
Minimum one year related patient care experience
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
Ability to recognize signs of distress
Basic computer skills including work within Epic electronic medical record
Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills
This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations
