JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the Laboratory computer system as well as insuring that the LIS integrates and communicates effectively with the Hospital Information System. The LIS coordinator is responsible for all aspects of Laboratory computerization. The LIS is responsible to effectively communicate and coordinate LIS issues with the Technical Support Manager and I.T Director as well as Laboratory Director. The focus of this position is to design, maintains and monitor Laboratory systems and their integration to other systems. This includes but not limited to configuration, validation and support of point of care instrumentation to ensure they are running efficiently and maximize uptime.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Computer Science, Microbiology, Business Systems or equivalent experience required.
Experience: Three years of experience as LIS coordinator or formal advanced computer training required. Prior experience with development and support of Cerner PathNet, Copath or other laboratory computer systems and any connected instruments. Three years of experience in LIS and HIS interfacing. Two years of experience in managing and implementing medium to large lab related projects. An appropriate combination of education and experience of the above-listed items will qualify a person.
Knowledge and Skills:
Strong technical knowledge/ skills in distributed programming.
Experience in maintaining LIS/Cerner Pathnet and Copath and their integration with foreign systems and instrumentations.
Strong working knowledge of Laboratory IT workflow and Laboratory operations.
Knowledge in modifying Lab related Cerner Millennium CCL reports.
Experience with troubleshooting device connectivity using Cerner iBus.
Strong testing, integration and critical thinking skills.
Desired Skills:
Knowledge of Cerner PowerChart ECG.
Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Understanding of project life cycle.
Physical Requirement: Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job.
PAY RANGE
$55.58 - $58.97
The posted pay range reflects the lowest to highest pay that was available for this position at the time of posting and may be subject to change. Salary offers are determined by candidate’s relevant experience and skills. For per diem positions, a standard rate is used based on market data and not the candidate’s individual experience.
