Job Description Summary | The LaFetra College of Education (LFCE) at the University of La Verne invites applications for a full-time, 12-month administrative position for Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives and Community Engagement beginning June 2022 or as soon as possible. The Associate Dean of Strategic Initiatives and Community Engagement is a member of the LFCE leadership team and is expected to participate in and contribute to this group’s work and support initiatives identified by the Dean. The candidate will work with faculty, staff, other campus leaders, and students to strengthen the goals and mission of the college. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of LFCE and, in collaboration with the LFCE leadership team, provides leadership for LFCE on the Dean’s behalf in strategic planning, student retention, field experiences, PK-12 school partnerships, strategic engagement and outreach, and external funding. In addition, the Associate Dean will support and model high standards of performance and ethical behavior; develop and demonstrate a deep knowledge of all LFCE and its academic programs, grant projects, and partnership activities; and remain current with respect to future trends and issues in California P-12 education and higher education. The successful candidate will possess exemplary interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and in initiatives that serve and support underrepresented communities. Essential Job Duties: - Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and ongoing review of policies and procedures related to strategic engagement in cooperation with the staff, faculty, and LFCE leadership team.
- Cultivate opportunities to showcase LFCE faculty, programs, and research within the city, region, and state.
- Collaborate with LFCE Institutional Improvement office, and use and analyze data (e.g., institutional statistics, surveys) to develop multi-year plans for partnership growth and development.
- Facilitate and lead focus group conversations and interviews for insight, develop reports, and contribute to LFCE annual reports and presentations. Take a leadership role in preparing for yearly impact report and U.S. News annual college ranking survey.
- Assesses community needs and recommends programs to meet identified areas of demand.
- Organize and facilitate task forces or workgroups related to community engagement, strategic partnerships, and other relevant initiatives.
- Serve as the Dean’s liaison for internal constituencies and external partnerships in performing a wide range of complex and sensitive duties. Collaborate, develop and support new opportunities for programs (both academic and non-credit programs) and partnerships.
- Collaborate with the college’s leadership team, Program Chairs, and staff to cultivate, develop, and sustain mutually beneficial partnerships with the LFCE programs and communities.
- Work with the college’s leadership team to identify partnership opportunities (K-12/community colleges/non-for-profit organizations) by identifying prospects, calling on prospects, developing relationships, recommending and implementing revenue-generating solutions, and/or establishing partnerships to cultivate and expand community engagement.
- Collaborate with the LFCE leadership team on procedures related to advising, credentialing, and program completion for all partnership programs.
- Identify faculty resources and connections for supporting community partnerships.
- In partnership with the LFCE leadership team and office of university advancement, identifies, develops, writes, and submits funding proposals and partnership opportunities.
- Function as the LFCE administrative liaison on the Dean’s behalf in public relations/outreach, contracts, fieldwork and placement, and scholarships, including MOU/MOA agreements in close collaboration with the relevant partners at the University.
- Oversees the planning, coordinating and organizing of non-credit courses/programs, customized training, vocational certificates, conferences, and workshops.
- Schedule, plan and execute student outreach events (e. g. lunch and learns, table sits, education fairs, webinars, information sessions) per month with LFCE partners.
- Works with the enrollment management to develop marketing materials to promote available programs, support college recruitment efforts, and increase enrollment and retention.
- Oversee strategy for external relations, including conducting analyses on the health of our external relationships, new strategic programs around external relationships, and updates to existing external relationship strategies.
- Work closely with center directors as an administrative liaison from the Dean’s office and support centers to plan and executive their services.
