The Department of Human Services is looking for a Clerical Assistant to perform seasonal work related to the Low Income Heating Energy Assistance Program at the Adams County Assistance Office. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform a wide range of clerical duties which will enhance staff members’ ability to provide quality services to the citizens of Pennsylvania. You will engage in a variety of clerical and general office duties by following office procedures and using relevant systems and office equipment. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to interact with the public in a courteous and professional manner when greeting visitors, answering telephone inquiries, and responding to emails to provide assistance or information regarding inquiries. Work includes utilizing basic computer skills to perform various office functions, including inputting applications for payment through our program, uploading crisis applications, making changes to the applicant's address or their choice of vendors, and reissuing grants that have been returned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time, seasonal employment
• Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
• Seasonal employment generally lasts from October through April but may change based on operational needs.
• Travel and overtime as needed.
• WORK CONDITIONS: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
• Graduation from high school; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Adams County. If no eligible candidates who live within Adams County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
