Overview
The Director of Supply Chain Management works under the general direction of the General Manager and is responsible for the overall direction of supply chain management from materials requirements planning, strategic sourcing, proposal support, and all procurement activity. This individual will be part of a high-performing leadership team and must have demonstrated commensurate experience leading high-performing teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Builds a high-performing team that drives the company’s Supply Chain and vendor management strategies in support of current requirements and continued company growth.
Lead Supply Chain team and work with cross-functional team to achieve Supply Chain and Company’s priorities.
Assures a formalized approach to the treatment of suppliers with respect to competitive bidding, not to exceed pricing, optional pricing for follow-on quantities, price reductions for subsequent lots, liquidated damages and long-term contracts.
In coordination with operational and contracts management, directs matrixed procurement efforts to ensure effective purchasing and delivery of materials, vended parts, or processes per customer/contractual requirements and the company’s strategic plan.
Develops domestic and international sources to ensure a robust and reliable supplier base to include a strategic group of suppliers that the company can partner with
Supports the proposal process thru supplier quoting, supplier selection and negotiation activity as needed.
Oversees the implementation of certified supplier initiatives, lean enterprise methodologies, or performance standards to ensure the most advantageous cost, quality, and delivery to positively impact the company’s profitability.
Works cross-functionally to ensure appropriate metrics, such as material cost models, material cost reductions in accordance with corporate and site specific requirements, Purchased Part Variance (PPV), supplier performance, etc., provide a timely and accurate representation of the supplier’s and/or company’s current state as well as early identification of issues that may impact the company’s performance or profitability.
Assures documentation standards are established and followed for correspondence between procurement and suppliers in the form of negotiation files, memorandums to file, trip reports and significant verbal communications with suppliers.
Develops and implements effective inventory strategies and lean management techniques consistent with the company’s strategic direction for the efficient movement of materials throughout the manufacturing and inventory cycle to ensure decreased on-hand inventory and increased inventory turns with no negative impact to the company’s performance.
Supports and maintains the integrity of the automated materials, planning and controls systems and ensure subordinates are appropriately trained in same.
Responsible for insuring accurate and timely material planning to all internal and external customers.
The Director of Supply Chain Management will represent the company at program reviews at company, customer or supplier facilities.
Maintains liaison and communicates effectively with suppliers, internal operations and teaming partners.
Coordinates technical problem-solving at supplier facilities.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain discipline required. A master’s degree is strongly preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years supply chain management experience required.
Must be able to directly supervise at least 3 people and upwards of 40 indirect employees.
Must be familiar with ISO 9001/AS9100/NADCAP/ITAR/EAR certifications and other quality and industry regulations and standards.
Must have broad knowledge of a specialized field such as procurement, business management, planning, production control, strategic sourcing, materials requirements planning and strong manufacturing knowledge, preferably in aerospace industry.
Must have strong negotiation, budget control and project management skills.
Requires strong oral and written English communication skills.
Knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but not required.
Must be able to travel within the U.S. and must possess a valid U.S. Passport as travel outside of the U.S. is also required.
Travel up to 20% is a possibility.
