Summary
The custodian role is integral to the smooth and successful cleaning operations of the entire campus, which includes maintaining a clean campus environment for our students and staff. They are heavily involved in supporting the school’s safe, smooth, and successful day-to-day operations. The custodian is expected to be committed to and exemplify the values of the Catholic church. These values are fundamental to creating and maintaining a positive environment for all individuals they engage within the community and/or the school.
Responsibilities
- Perform custodial duties such as cleaning, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and trash removal of classrooms, offices, cafeterias, meeting rooms, faculty rooms, bathrooms, hallways, entryways, parish hall, patio, garden, field, parking lot areas of a facility including exterior grounds. Guide students and staff in the care and use of the facility.
- Interact with and assist students, staff, visitors, and groups during and after regular school hours to ensure building use needs are met. Provide set-up, tear-down, and cleaning after activities. Respond to requests, last-minute needs, unscheduled events, changes, etc., regarding building use. Move and set up furniture and equipment as requested.
- Monitor and inspect building facilities for safety and cleanliness. Maintain and make minor repairs to the facility and troubleshoot and report areas requiring maintenance to the supervisor. Notify the building supervisor of hazardous or harmful situations.
- Ensure proper use, identification, mixture, and application of chemicals, including the Secure the facility by locking doors and windows and setting alarms. Monitor building security throughout shift.
- Report supply and equipment needs to the head of the school (principal).
- The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, flexible, and willing to take on non-routine cleaning and special projects as needed.
- Remove garage and recycling daily and prepare bins for weekly pick-up
- Handles emergency cleaning and upkeep requests
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
Requirements
High school diploma or completion of G.E.D
At least one year of custodial experience is preferred
Customer service experience preferred
Criminal background check required for hire

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
