The student will analyze satellite data, i.e., from the ECOSTRESS sensor on board the International Space Station, focusing on environmental impacts related to water issues in New Mexico. These issues include agricultural water use/irrigation, wildfire vulnerability, and drought monitoring. The project is a NASA funded project in the Applied Sciences: Water Resources program. The project is particularly interested in the impacts of different wildfire treatments and making useable products for the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer
Required Qualifications
Experience working with NASAECOSTRESS remote sensing data.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with laboratory methods and processing of environmental samples (soils, leaves, roots).
