The Job
The Innovation and Technology Department (ITD) is accepting applications for Computer Operator III. Duties include operating the enterprise mainframe and print environment. Managing the enterprise scheduling platform. Providing service desk functions such as request routing, escalation, and working with after-hours support. Monitoring of the County's enterprise systems, servers, and data center.
This is the advanced working level in the Computer Operator series. Incumbents perform the most complex computer functions and are expected to independently operate, on a rotating basis, the master console, coordinate associated peripheral equipment, and resolve technical problems encountered.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Applicants must successfully pass a background check and a job-related physical exam, including a drug test, prior to employment.
Work Hours: Incumbents are required to be available to work ALL SHIFTS, which includes day, swing, night, rotating, weekends, and holidays. The County pays an hourly differential for those employees working night shifts.
Physical Requirements: Duties may involve lifting up to fifty (50) pounds; bending, stooping, and kneeling.

Minimum Requirements
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of full-time experience operating an IBM Mainframe or Microsoft Windows Server environment.
-AND-
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Nine (9) semester (14 quarter) units of completed college level coursework in data processing, computer operations, programming or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted if an Associate's degree has not been conferred.
Education Substitution: One (1) additional year of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education. Possession of a Systems Z certificate or Microsoft Server Certificate may substitute for the required education. A legible copy of the Systems Z or Microsoft Server certificate must be submitted by attaching it to your application.
Desired Qualifications
Experience or knowledge with a high level of proficiency with the following is highly desired:
IBM z/OS - HMC, Microsoft Windows Servers, VTAM/TCPIP commands, DB2 thread monitoring, IMS commands, SDSF Commands, CA-View, CA-UIM or Monitoring software, Data Center fire suppression, power, disk/tape mounting, tape library maintenance, cooling systems, and disaster recovery drills.
