Bioinformatics Scientist II – Remote., USA
As a member of Ambry’s Analytics group, you’ll be responsible for NGS data analysis, developing and maintaining our bioinformatics pipeline. This work will entail close interaction with a cross functional team of engineers, wet lab scientists, and clinicians with the goal of launching new diagnostic products and improvements.
Essential Functions
- Provide bioinformatics support to R&D by analyzing and interpreting NGS data
- Validate new assays and clinical product development
- Perform NGS data analysis and QA/QC platform
- Provide trouble shooting and improvement for bioinformatics pipeline and applications for clinical tests
- Develop new methods and maintain bioinformatics pipelines
- Work with statisticians in validation of new methods, including data collection and analysis algorithms
- Develop features/tools assisting clinical and genetic analysis
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline plus at least 6+ years industrial experience
- Experience with Illumina sequencing data and bioinformatics NGS pipelines
- Strong knowledge of current theories and principals of bioinformatics and computational biology
- Proficiency in the use of bioinformatics software, packages, and database
- Proficiency with Python and Linux/Unix environment
- Proficiency in utilizing and development biomolecular modeling and dynamics tools
- Strong skills in the application of statistical analytical methods in genetic data analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work within a team, among cross-departments, and as an independent contributor, requiring minimal supervision
- Proficiency using version control tools such as GIT or Bitbucket
Preferred
- PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline plus at least 2 years post-doctoral research experience or industrial experience
- MS degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, structural biology, biophysics, biology and computer science, or related discipline plus at least 4+ years industrial experience
- Experience with Perl, Python, R, bash, C/C++, and SQL
- Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS)
