POSITION SUMMARY: The Media Services Technician operates, maintains, distributes, and supports the audio-visual systems of Pomona College’s technology enhanced classroom and meeting spaces. This collaborative position provides exceptional customer service and troubleshoots multimedia equipment and computer issues.
Reporting to the AVP, IT, Finance and Operation, the Media Services Technician works collaboratively, within a team, to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Provide technical and troubleshooting support for the College’s technology enhanced classrooms and meeting spaces, including all hardware and software.
Support College event technology needs (such as Alumni weekend, family weekend, convocation, graduation).
Install software and firmware updates to classroom computers, media control systems/equipment and media services laptops.
Track and maintain media services inventory of equipment and supplies.
Provide technical support for video/web conferencing.
Assist in maintaining digital signage displays and digital signage computers.
Maintain consumable supplies organized and stocked.
Log inventory updates on equipment updates, swap-outs and moves.
Keep abreast of emerging technologies and attend trade shows/conferences to hone skills.
Perform special projects/tasks/duties and provide assistance as assigned.
Provide excellent customer service to the Pomona community.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts, Education Technology Computer Science or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. A minimum of 2 years of technical experience in the installation and support of media technology with sound and methodical troubleshooting skills is required. Computer literacy/general software experience with a working knowledge of computer software tools (e.g. Apple and Windows hardware and software such as MS Office and various web browsers) is required. Work experience in educational media/video systems and production and supervisory experience, especially experience supervising student workers, is preferred.

REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. Overtime, holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division. Must be available to work an irregular, flexible schedule.
ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS Regular, full-time, non-exempt position. The hourly rate for this role is between $25.26-$28.55. The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior role. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
