Your Opportunity as the Manager, Engineering & TSO – Coffee Packaging
Location: New Orleans, LA – Gentilly
Working Arrangements: 100% on-site
· Travel – typically under 20% (but peak periods may be higher)
Reports To: Senior Director, SBA Engineering & TSO
In this role you will:
· Coach and develop the Packaging TSO team
o Set clear team workplan and individual objectives
o Maintain objectives through regular 1:1 discussions
o Standardize work processes
o Develop and deploy measures to track and improve team performance
o Coach team members to build skills and to increase contributions
o Complete mid-year and year-end performance reviews
· Develop and maintain technical and operational expertise for coffee technologies across packaging formats
· Initiate, define and deliver operational savings projects to support SBA savings goals
o Develop relationships with key technical resources in each manufacturing plant
o Identify loss opportunities across SBA Operations
o Partner with plants and Marketing Project Managers to complete loss analysis
o Prioritize opportunities with business and align resources to highest potential projects
· Deliver optimization projects
o Partner with Operations, R&D and Green Coffee to identify opportunities
o Coach team members to deliver projects and initiatives
o Directly lead projects with greatest impact and/or highest complexity
o Develop and improve work systems and training to qualify new conditions
· Support delivery of quality improvements and resolution of quality issues through root cause analysis
· Partner with Operations, R&D, and the broader SBA team to deliver robust initiatives
o Actively participate in Technical Readiness reviews for initiatives
o Develop, review, and provide input to process and packing solutions proposed for initiatives, including potential problem analysis for scale-up
o May act as a Technical Readiness Leader for new product initiatives
· Write and secure approval to test plans required for initiatives and other improvements; executes plans; reports on results
· Write Technical Brief and Engineering Study Documents, outlining technical scope, equipment recommendations, system and equipment performance/design rates, critical assumptions, technical risks, labor implications, high level cost estimates, first pass system layouts, long lead equipment deliveries, and value engineering
· Act as Subject Matter Expert for one or more technologies (packaging formats)
o Maintain relationships with key material suppliers and equipment vendors
o Evaluate equipment improvements for application in our facilities
o Support plant engineers to develop site capital master plans
o Develop and recommend opportunities for equipment standardization across plants
· Work with other managers in JMS communities to align on similar approaches to business practices.

What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree
· 5+ years of experience in Operations, Research & Development (R&D), and/or Engineering/TSO
Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:
· Previous experience managing small teams and coaching individuals is strongly desired
· 7+ years of experience in Operations, Research & Development (R&D), and/or Engineering/TSO
· 5+ years of engineering (or related food industry) experience
· Degree in Engineering or Packaging Science
· Fundamental understanding of food science / packaging interactions
· Technical mastery of packaging formats and processes
· Experience developing and executing CQV plans and qualifying ingredients / recipes / processes
· Familiarity with Prodika and TraceGains
· Capital project and/or start up management experience
