What You’ll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
Operate Equipment. Candidate will be responsible to operate sweeper truck for aggregate and concrete operations to clean plant yards and driveways at various locations. Candidate will be expected to operate equipment with a high degree of competence, perform duties safely, responsibly and proficiently observing all safety and health rules. Candidates must be able to work in a heavy industrial environment, exposed to weather elements, some noise; must have ability to work independently and problem-solve while working alone or as part of a team.
Inspect and Maintain Equipment. Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports. Clean the outside and inside of the vehicle at the end of each shift.
Document and Record Information. Complete all forms, service reports, tickets, and required paperwork to ensure organization of documents and needed paperwork.
Coordinate with Dispatch. Work closely with dispatch, maintenance, and plant management to facilitate the flow of information required to provide good customer service.
Perform General Physical Activities. Perform physical activities such as cleaning all areas on the vehicle and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Cleans and maintains manufacturing locations, customer job sites and/or area and roadway spills.
- Uses remote vacuum and sprinkler hose attachments as required.
Cleans and unloads vacuum collector retainer. - Moves levers on truck to properly adjust to surface area to be cleaned.
Performs routine maintenance such as lubricating, fueling, brush replacement and cleaning. - Must be open to performing other tasks as needed and with proper training.
- Follows all DOT requirements. Must have a Class A or B CDL.
- Follows all safety/environmental procedures.
Skills You’ll Need:
Ready to Drive. Must possess a commercial driver’s license and have a valid DOT physical or the ability to get one.
Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of operating and servicing ready-mix trucks is preferred. Experience with Department of Transportation rules and regulations is preferred.
Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Customer Focus. Must be able to take responsibility for customer relationships and appropriately represent Vulcan on job sites and while transporting product on public streets and highways.
Clean Driving Record. Must have a clean and safe driving record and the ability to safely operate and control equipment while on the job.
