Position Description Summary:
Visiting Assistant Professor will maintain a 3-3 teaching load, teaching 3 dance classes in Fall 2024 and 3 dance classes in Spring 2025 for the Theatre and Dance Program in the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design, and participate in faculty meetings and planning for Theatre and Dance program.
Depending on experience, courses may include Beginning/Intermediate Ballet; various levels of Modern/Postmodern Dance, and/or Dance Composition.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
VAP will also support student advising, including senior thesis as needed, and attend and contribute to faculty meetings working closely with current faculty. Potential to direct Student Dance Concert in lieu of 1 course per semester, at program chair’s discretion. Visiting Professor will contribute to ongoing collaborations, including GW’s partnership with the National Gallery of Art and hosting of Dance Studies Association 2025.
Minimum Qualifications:
MFA and/or PhD in dance, performance studies, or related field; 3-5 years professional experience and demonstrated expertise in dance and dance studies.

MFA and/or PhD; multimedia, interdisciplinary and/or community-engaged performance artists are especially welcomed. Candidates with subfields such as queer studies, comparative studies, race and ethnicity, migration and diaspora studies, or media studies are invited to name this specialization.
