This position manages and coordinates the multi-step screening/hiring process for our entry level positions as well as other agency career opportunities. Also handles the recruitment process from job posting to onboarding.
This includes presentations to large groups of applicants, administering tests, interviews, acting as the primary point of contact for the recruitment process, and new hire orientation.
Assists the Outreach Coordinator with job fairs and community outreach activities.
Works as part of the overall HR Team for DPSC providing backup to the Payroll Contact; assisting employees with time entry, leave and payroll questions; maintaining HR data in Fairfax County Unified System (FOCUS), manage recruitment systems and other related agency databases.
Note: The assigned functional areas for this position include general administrative assistance and/or recruitment.
Salary disclaimer: The salary offer for the position will be in the minimum to midpoint range ($47,663.82 to $63,552.11) of the advertised compensation range. Promotional rules apply for current Fairfax County Government and Fairfax County Public Schools employees.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and three years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: VCIN - VA Criminal Information Network (Required within 6 months)
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
At least two years of experience with recruiting and community outreach.
At least two years of experience attending career fairs, creating relationships with colleges, universities, and community businesses and programs, quantifying turnover, time to fill, and other HR metrics and processing confidential personnel actions and employee information.
At least two years of experience in human resources or office administration to include preforming personnel functions within a HRIS system (e.g., establish/abolish positions, position control forms, payroll reconciliation and reporting, etc.).
Experience in public safety a plus.
Front-line customer service experience with excellent customer service skills, work ethic and well organized.
Experience performing payroll responsibilities.
Ability to function both independently and in a team environment.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Ability to travel to various locations in the Northern Virginia Region, attend meeting, trainings and conferences. Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include days, nights weekends and holidays Must be able to lift office supplies, working files, and crouch to service office machines. Work requires the ability to sit, stand, escort applicants, and use keyboard for long periods of time. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
