Job Description
The University of La Verne is a private not-for-profit university founded in 1891 located in La Verne, California. The Department of Rhetoric and Communication Studies invites applications for adjunct faculty positions to teach courses in the University’s First-year Rhetoric and Writing Program during the 2024-25 and/or 2025-26 academic years. We seek applicants to teach first-year writing courses primarily for in-person classes on the main campus but who may also be able to teach online courses.
Required Qualifications
Candidates for the first-year writing courses must have at least a Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or a closely related field, such as English or TESOL. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years of teaching experience at the college or university level who can furnish evidence of strong teaching, and who can teach in-person classes on our main campus but who have experience teaching in asynchronous online, hybrid, and remote, synchronous online learning formats.
