Job Abstract

Brookside Gardens, a Montgomery Parks facility, seeks seasonal employees to assist with the fabrication, repair, installation, running and takedown of lights and light forms for the Garden of Lights winter light show, from August 2024 through March 2025. We seek energetic people who enjoy being outside, interacting with people, and who have an outstanding work ethic with great attention to detail.?Evening and weekend work required from mid-November through January, when the show is running and open to the public. Knowledge of electricity, amperage loads, tools and equipment preferred, but can also be learned on the job.

• Installs lights on trees and shrubs daily from early August through late November

• Uses tools, equipment, and ladders safely and can work from heights

• Works nights as a cashier, parking attendant, show monitor or show supervisor from late November through early January

• Uses an app-based ticketing system to sell and redeem tickets

• Interacts politely with the public daily, answering questions and providing information

• Takes down and stores the entire show from early January-mid March

Working conditions:

Primarily works outside.? Exposed to weather extremes of heat and cold, dirt, waste, odors, wildlife, and potentially harmful insects (for example, bees, hornets, wasps, etc.).? Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, climb and lift to 50 pounds.? Works independently and as part of a team.
