Job Summary:Echo Tech II
Responsible for patient care services utilizing ultrasound equipment to provide echocardiography exams in compliance with regulatory requirements for directed image acquisition; also responsible for data generation for physician interpretation of exams, teaching and coaching ultrasound students, patient transport and schedule coordination.
Licensure and Certification:
ARDMS or CCI credential in one modality
Current BLS provider card
Education:
High School graduate or GED equivalent.
Experience with echocardiogram exams or completion of echocardiology training course (didactic/clinical training)
Experience:
Experienced in adult transthoracic echocardiograms to include contrast studies
Experienced in TEE and Stress Echo exams
Knowledge and Skill:
Patient care in a hospital setting.
Ability to follow the various protocols necessary for performing echocardiograms
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
Ability to work flexible schedules and take call as needed
Strong organizational skills
Problem solving skills
Basic computer skills
Physical Demands – Patient Care:
Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
