Job Summary
The Sr. Program Manager, Facility Planning and Design is responsible leading project planning efforts at Hoag. Working in conjunction with Strategic Analytics, business units, Finance and SEMT, develops strategic and tactical plans for Hoag. This work involves direct interaction with the business unit leaders to translate their business objectives into a functional program that becomes the basis for space planning, capital prioritization and construction sequencing.
This work covers a broad array of use types making knowledge of jurisdictional implications and resulting construction considerations paramount. The candidate must be fully conversant in the following:
- Program development
- Space Planning
- Capital Planning
- Budget Development
- Architecture
- Interior Design
- Regulatory and Code requirements
- Business Case Development
- Presentation Development and Presentations to Senior Management
In addition, a working knowledge of construction, real estate and property management is critical.
Due to the number and scope of projects, the incumbent must be able to set priorities and work with minimal supervision. Must be able to manage their extended team which consists of both internal as well as consulting resources.
Recommends and advises management on specific as well as the broad range of planning and development. Uses critical thinking, industry trends, and data analysis to lead long-range strategic planning.
Responsibilities also include comprehension of issues, assembling teams and gathering the data and business plans necessary to frame decisions to work with hospital teams throughout the strategic investment decision process.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s in Architecture, Planning or Interior Design
Preferred 10 years’ experience in health care design, architecture, and planning or equivalent
Demonstrate ability to coordinate well with all stakeholders in the design and construction process including clinical/non-clinical operations, and support services.
Knowledge of in-patient and out-patient healthcare practices.
Proficient in all phases of the project life cycle, with the ability to balance macro strategic thinking with functional and operational decision making
Familiarity of construction management, methods, materials, and costs
Familiarity of code requirements, regulatory bodies, industry standards, space requirements, best practices and emerging trends for hospitals and other healthcare project types
Working knowledge of Capital/Expense budget prioritization and preparation
Solid computer technical skills required, including advance proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Working knowledge of CAFM, CAD, VIZIO and related graphics programs
Experience in managing external consultants and the design process for high volume of projects, preferably in an acute ambulatory and healthcare environment preferred to assure desired institutional outcomes
Bilingual or Multilingual preferred
Licenses
Current CA driver’s license required for local travel
Licensure as registered architect preferred.
Travel – Position may require local travel between various Organization locations.
