JOB SUMMARY:
In support of student recruitment and retention, advise students and families on the financial aid application process, federal, state and institutional aid programs, student account billing and payment processes, current and past due balances/collections and registration and records. Support students throughout their Adelphi University education while maintaining excellent customer service.

SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $47,500 - 50,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. An annual base salary higher than the range may be warranted in circumstances where a candidate has demonstrable equivalent prior higher education experience at another University.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Serve as “one-stop advisor” for students and families concerning financial aid, billing and registration. Counsels students and families in- person and virtually. Greets students/families at the front counter. Respond to a large volume of phone, email, and in-person inquiries in a timely manner. Participate in outbound phone call campaigns.
- Assist prospective and current students with financial aid inquiries. Explain the application processes, eligibility and renewal criteria, awarding and disbursement of funds. Discuss aid as it relates to a student’s account, payment and financing options for out of pocket tuition, residential life and health insurance expenses. Inform students of outside scholarship opportunities.
- Accurately advise and assess current students’ financial aid/billing history, needs and potential problems in making payments due to the University. Advise students on financial aid and academic appeal processes where appropriate.
- Answer inquiries about and perform processes for course registrations and exceptions, course schedules, transcripts, degree audits and graduation.
- Advise students on student loan application, repayment options and default prevention.
- Collect and review financial aid, registrar, cashier and student’s accounts forms, tax and other documents for accuracy and completeness, track and distribute documents to appropriate inter-office staff. Assist with inbound mail and document tracking and external mailing campaigns.
- Review, assess and remove financial aid holds/registration blocks and late payment fees, where appropriate.
- Advise students on third party and self-service programs used by the university such as Bank Mobile, Gallagher (health insurance), Payment Plans, CLASS, eCampus
- Review and process daily refunds in accordance with federal, state and institutional guidelines. (we will need all hands on deck during critical processing cycles)
- Receive & process payments made in person or by mail (credit cards, checks, cash). Complete Bank Deposit Detail at end of day/shift to include:
- Advise students on academic, financial & medical petition processes, third party billing, company reimbursement agreements and account balances, requesting transcripts and replacing diplomas
- Process outside scholarship checks and private loans
- Engage as needed with other key departments such as Admissions, Residential Life and athletics to ensure a seamless process for students/parents.
- Conduct College Nights & Financial Aid Literacy workshops, and other speaking events both on and off campus.
- As experience is acquired, act as a resource for other personnel.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

10. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE/ REQUIREMENTS:
1. Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) and/or 1 - 3 years current in financial aid, student accounts, cashier, registrar or student service experience in a fast-paced customer-service oriented higher education environment.

Hours: The One-Stop Student Services Center will be open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:30-4:30 and Wednesday 8:30-7:00 (staggered shifts, subject to change).
